The Exell S177 battery is a 10.5V silver oxide replacement for the original Mercuric Oxide 7MR9 and H-7D batteries commonly used in long shotgun-type condenser microphones. Mercury is no longer used due to its toxicity and environmental impact, so the Exell S177 was created as an alternative.
It is a cylindrical battery with mini 9V snap terminals. It measures 13.9mm in diameter and 48.5mm in height.
Note that the Exell S177 produces 10.5 volts, which is higher than the 9.45 volts and 9.8 volts produced by the original 7MR9 and H-7D mercury cells. Most devices can accommodate the slight increase in voltage fine, however.
